Unlocking the Power of Podcasts: Enhancing Patient Education and Staff Training

It can be difficult to get team members (and clients) to watch video training, simply because very few of us have the time to switch off "the notifications" and watch - perhaps even fewer can guarantee that they will not be interrupted, either at home or work.

Conversely, podcasts have grown hugely in popularity, as an alternative to the "blah, blah, blah" of commercial radio.

The current UK top 10 are:

  1. The Rest is History;

  2. The Rest is Politics;

  3. The Ricky Gervais Show;

  4. Khloe in Wonder land;

  5. The Rest is Politics US;

  6. The Joe Rogan Experience;

  7. The Rest is Entertainment;

  8. The News Agents;

  9. The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett;

  10. The Pitcairn Trials.

History, Politics, News, Biography, Entertainment.

What interests me is the amount of "education" here - whether historical or contemporary - people wanting to get a better understanding of things.

We can listen to podcasts when driving (my own choice - The Rest is History), exercising, walking the dogs, commuting.

So here's a thought.

Instead of patient newsletters - why not a patient podcast?

Instead of team training sessions or videos - why not a team training podcast?

Instead of traditional marketing collateral - why not an Oral Health Education podcast, thus hitting all sorts of inbound marketing objectives?

Easy and cheap to set up and maintain, evergreen material, different.

Just thinking out loud.
